100% applications received for retail liquor shops, lottery on Aug 22

Ranchi: The state excise department has received 100 percent applications for all retail liquor shop groups across Jharkhand. According to sources, a total of 1,343 liquor shops have been divided into 560 groups, and applications have been submitted for each one of them before the deadline, which ended today.

The allocation of these shops will be done through a lottery scheduled for August 22. For the current financial year, the department has set a revenue target of ?3,937 crore.

Ranchi district has received the highest number of applications, with 87 groups, followed by Dhanbad with 51 groups. East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur) and Giridih are tied at third place with 45 groups each. Bokaro has 33 groups, while Deoghar, Hazaribagh, and Palamu each have 28 groups. Seraikela-Kharsawan has 25, Dumka has 23, and West Singhbhum (Chaibasa) has 20 groups.

Other districts include Garhwa with 18 groups, Koderma 17, Godda 16, Jamtara 14, Chatra 13, Latehar 10, Pakur and Khunti 9 each, Simdega 7, and both Gumla and Lohardaga with 5 groups each. All of these districts have seen full application turnout, ensuring the lottery process will proceed as planned.
