Ranchi: Marking World Youth Skills Day, Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society (JSDMS), under the Department of Labour, Employment, Training & Skill Development organised an appointment letter distribution ceremony at the Visvesvaraya (VISWA) Training Centre in Kanke. As part of the state’s flagship Mukhyamantri Sarathi Yojana, newly placed candidates received appointment letters during the event.
Speaking at the ceremony, JSDMS Mission Director-cum-Executive Officer Shailendra Kumar Lal emphasized the importance of channelizing youth energy into creative and productive sectors. He stated that in this age of AI and digital transformation, it is essential to equip young people with relevant skills and provide timely encouragement to ensure they move in the right direction and contribute meaningfully to the nation.
Lal urged all stakeholders involved in state’s skilling ecosystem to focus not just on formal training but on quality skill development. He stressed the need for strong coordination and collaboration among training providers, government officials, and partner institutions to shape a brighter future for Jharkhand’s youth.
As a step towards promoting self-employment, trained candidates under the Mukhyamantri Sarathi Yojana were provided sewing machines during the event. A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between JSDMS and the Institute of Civil Engineers Society (ICES) to implement the Employability Excellence for College Education & Learning sub-scheme under the Sarathi Yojana.
The event also marked the official launch of preparations for the India Skills – Jharkhand Skill Competitions 2025–26 at both the state and district levels, leading up to the World Skills competition.
A major attraction of the event was a skill exhibition featuring interactive stalls showcasing trades such as General Duty Assistant in Healthcare, Solar Panel Installation under Green Jobs, Electronics and Multi-skill Technician for home appliances, Apparel Design and Fashion, Food Processing, and Makeup & Salon Services.
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries including Sunil Singh, Additional Secretary, Department of Labour, Employment, Training & Skill Development; Ravi Ranjan Kumar Vikram, Labour Commissioner-cum-Director, Employment & Training; and Rajeev Ranjan Kumar, Special Secretary, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation. Also present were officials from JSDMS, managers, trainers, UNDP representatives, training partners and beneficiaries of Mukhyamantri Sarathi Yojana.
