ED Raids Multiple Locations in Ranchi and Patna in Connection with NEET-UG Paper Leak

Ranchi/Patna – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday conducted raids at several locations in Ranchi’s Bariatu area, as well as in Patna and Nalanda in Bihar, in connection with the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak case, which is now under investigation for suspected money laundering.

According to sources, the ED is tracking financial links tied to Sanjeev Mukhiya — a Bihar resident and alleged mastermind of the leak — along with his family members and close associates.

The ED launched its investigation after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is handling the main case, found evidence of large-scale cash transactions related to the leak. An Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) was registered accordingly.

The paper leak was first uncovered in May 2024 after the NEET-UG exam for medical admissions. The case was initially investigated by the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) in Patna before being handed over to the CBI.

Sanjeev Mukhiya, arrested in April, is currently in judicial custody. On Thursday, ED teams searched the residence of his aide Sikandar Prasad Yadavendra in Ranchi and his son, Dr. Shiv, in Patna.

Previously, the CBI had arrested multiple people in the case, including Oasis School Principal and NTA City Coordinator Ehsan Ul Haq, Vice Principal Mohammad Imtiaz, journalist Jamaluddin, and a guesthouse operator from Hazaribagh.

Investigations revealed that the question paper was leaked from Oasis School in Hazaribagh and transported to Patna, where selected students received early access and were coached for the test in exchange for large bribes.
