Ranchi: The Government of India has sanctioned ?15 crore as Special Central Assistance for three key insurgency-affected districts in Jharkhand — Lohardaga, Gumla, and Giridih. Each district will receive ?5 crore to help address the challenges posed by insurgency in these areas. The Home Secretary has issued official orders for the allocation, which is expected to boost development and peace-building efforts in the region.
The funds will be used for both developmental and security-related initiatives. Key priorities include timely and adequate compensation for the families of civilians and security personnel killed in insurgency-related violence. Support will also be extended to rehabilitate former Naxals who choose to give up violence and reintegrate into society.
To strengthen law and order, the plan includes constructing new and reinforced police stations. Civic action programs will focus on infrastructure development, particularly building roads in affected areas. Additionally, the purchase of two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles will improve the mobility and efficiency of security forces, enabling better patrolling and quicker response.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, five districts in Jharkhand are severely affected by Maoist activities — West Singhbhum, Giridih, Gumla, Latehar, and Lohardaga. This special assistance targets three of these critical districts to further peace and development efforts.
