Ranchi: The Election Commission has sought a report from the Income Tax Department following allegations that Bokaro MLA Shweta Singh possesses two Permanent Account Numbers (PANs). The move comes after a formal complaint was filed by BJP leader Biranchi Narayan.
In the complaint, Narayan claimed that one PAN is registered in Ramgarh district, where Shweta Singh's husband, Sangram Singh, is incorrectly listed as her father. The second PAN, issued in Gurgaon, mentions her father's name as Dinesh Singh.
The BJP leader submitted a written complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand, raising concerns over potential identity discrepancies and misuse. Acting on the complaint, the Election Commission has requested the Income Tax Department to verify the claims and confirm whether two PAN cards have indeed been issued in Shweta Singh's name.
