Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday underlined his government’s commitment to tribal welfare, saying that the Tribal Advisory Council (TAC) had held in-depth discussions to safeguard tribal interests and chart a roadmap for their comprehensive development.
Speaking to the media outside the state secretariat, Soren said, “I chaired the meeting where all nominated members, including MLAs, raised important issues. The primary focus was on preserving tribal language, culture, and identity, securing land rights for the landless, and addressing structural challenges faced by tribal communities.”
He added that relevant departments have been directed to prepare a consolidated document based on the discussions. “We are examining how to overcome structural compulsions—systemic barriers—and find practical, on-ground solutions,” Soren said.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the crucial role of the central government in ensuring inclusive development. “Be it farmers, labourers, or rural populations, ministries like Finance, Rural Development, and Labour must collaborate. The Centre plays a key role in ensuring that state-level policies reach the grassroots.”
Soren clarified that the TAC meeting was advisory in nature. Final decisions, he said, would be made after reviewing the departmental drafts.
