HC rejects bail petition of jailed IAS officer Pooja Singhal

Ranchi: Suspended IAS officer Pooja Singhal received a major setback from the Jharkhand High Court on Thursday in the case of illegal earnings and money laundering through scams in MNREGA schemes as the High Court rejected the bail application filed by her.

After hearing the arguments of all sides, the court of High Court Judge Justice Rajesh Kumar refused to grant bail to Pooja Singhal. Pooja Singhal had sought bail citing health reasons. She will now have to wait longer for bail.

Earlier, a bail petition was filed on behalf of Pooja Singhal in the lower court but the court refused to grant her bail. After this, Pooja Singhal filed a bail petition in the High Court but she did not get relief from here too.

On May 6, the ED raided the residence of Pooja Singhal and more than two dozen places related to her. During this, more than 19 crore cash was recovered from the premises of her husband’s CA Suman Kumar. After interrogation, in this case, ED arrested Pooja Singhal on May 11.
