Ranchi district administration sends 32,000 kilograms of relief materials to Kerala

The Ranchi district administration has sent 32,000 kg of relief material to Kerala to assist people affected by the devastating floods.

Addressing a press conference at the Collectorate on Tuesday, Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Rai Mahimapat Ray said residents of the district had also come forward to support the flood victims by donating relief materials.

He thanked the Railways for extending support in transporting the relief supplies. Another consignment of around 4,000 kg of relief material was sent on Tuesday, containing food items and other essential supplies.

The Deputy Commissioner also congratulated residents for the peaceful conclusion of Bakrid and the Shravan month.

Ray provided information on several government programmes, including Mukhyamantri Jan Samwad, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Anganwadi centres, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and transportation-related initiatives.

He further said that preparations for the 2019 elections had begun in the district, with a special revision of electoral rolls scheduled to start from September 1. A special drive would be conducted to encourage more eligible residents to register as voters.

He appealed to people who needed to register their names in the electoral rolls or make corrections to approach their respective polling stations.

The Deputy Commissioner also said that around 1.43 lakh students in Ranchi district had received post-matriculation scholarships through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), amounting to approximately Rs 16 crore.

In addition, around 17,000 students had received about Rs 5 crore through DBT to purchase bicycles.

Additional Collector Anjani Kumar Mishra and officials from various departments were also present at the press conference.
