Tribal Organisations form human chain in capital

Ranchi: Mandar MLA Bandhu Tirkey on the second of the ongoing Monsoon Session of the assembly in the zero hours raised the issue of implementing the separate Sarna religious code for the tribals.

He said that to ensure national identity and protect the religion of the tribals a proposal should be passed from the assembly and sent to the Centre that in the census of 2021 a separate Sarna religious code should be mentioned so that the tribals do not have to fill in the other colors as part of their religious identity. He demanded that the one crore Sarna followers in the state should get a right to write the name of their religion in government documents.

On the other hand, the members of the tribals community formed the human chain from Harmu Road to Birsa Chowk demanding Sarna religious code. They also carried placards and posters in support of their demands.

Separately before Gandhi Statue at the Morhabadi Grounds, a satyagraha cum prayer meet was also organised. The members of the tribals community who were present on the spot demanded that the house should pass a proposal send it to the centre or else they would not allow the census to happen in the state.

On Sunday also in Ranchi and other districts, the tribals had formed a human chain in support of their demands. They have warned the government that if their demands would not be met they would not allow the Winter Session to happen.
