Niharika Chouksey says television deserves more respect, calls it the best training ground for actors

Mumbai: Actress Niharika Chouksey has spoken out against the perception that television is somehow inferior to other entertainment platforms, saying she does not understand why some people look down on the medium.

Speaking to IANS, the actress said television has played a crucial role in shaping actors and remains the best place to learn the craft. "I think I will always enjoy doing television. Even if someone tells me I have to work 14 hours a day, it's good for me because I love staying busy. I don't understand why some people look down on television. Television is the best school. From facing the camera to memorising long dialogues, it teaches you everything," she said.

Highlighting the demanding nature of television, Niharika explained that actors have to adapt quickly because episodes are produced and aired at a fast pace. "On television, you have to be very quick because tomorrow's episode has to be telecast. Fresh scripts come in, and you have to deliver them immediately. In web shows, there are workshops and more preparation time. Compared to that, television involves a lot more hard work," she added.

The actress also said she believes the entertainment industry is evolving in a positive direction, especially with better opportunities for women. According to her, while television traditionally offered more female-centric stories, films are now increasingly showcasing strong women-led narratives that are being well received by audiences.

Speaking about reality television, Niharika said her current priority is to focus on acting and build a stronger fan following before taking part in such shows. She revealed that dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is on her wish list because of her love for dancing. She also expressed interest in Khatron Ke Khiladi, but admitted she would first need to overcome her fears before participating.

Niharika Chouksey is currently seen as Anu in Studio LSD's television show Tumm Se Tumm Tak.
