Eva Longoria Reflects on Life Abroad, Shares What She Misses About the US

Los Angeles — Eva Longoria has opened up about her life outside the United States, saying that living abroad has helped her embrace a slower, more relaxed lifestyle—though a few things from home still remain close to her heart.

Longoria, along with her husband Jose Baston and their seven-year-old son Santiago, has been splitting time between Spain and Mexico for several years. She said one of the biggest adjustments has been learning to slow down and enjoy everyday moments.

Having grown up in Texas and spent much of her adult life in Los Angeles, she noted that her family has grown fond of life in Spain, especially its laid-back culture. She highlighted how meals there are meant to be long and unhurried, unlike the fast-paced “working lunch” culture common in the US.

She pointed out that in America, lunch often feels rushed and tied to work schedules, whereas in Spain, it’s an experience to be enjoyed without pressure. Another benefit she appreciates is the absence of heavy traffic in her neighbourhood, which allows her to walk to most places.

Despite enjoying these changes, Longoria admitted she misses her Texas-based family and authentic Mexican food, saying that while Europe has much to offer, it lacks the kind of Mexican cuisine she grew up with.

Last year, she also shared that her son Santiago, who had been homeschooled, started attending school as the family spent more time in Los Angeles while she worked on her second directorial project, The Fifth Wheel.

Longoria first gained recognition for her role in The Young and the Restless and rose to global fame with Desperate Housewives. She has since appeared in films like Overboard and made guest appearances in shows such as Only Murders in the Building.
