Malavika Mohanan opens up about her last emotional moment and why it hit her

Chennai — Actor Malavika Mohanan recently gave fans a candid glimpse into her personal life, revealing when she last felt overwhelmed enough to cry—and what led to it.

During an interactive “Ask Me Anything” session on Instagram, the actress responded to a fan who asked about the last time she shed tears. Reflecting on the moment, Malavika shared that it happened during a work trip to Chennai last month, where she stayed for an extended period.

While she had a supportive team around her, she admitted that being away from home and loved ones for too long began to take a toll. Returning to an empty hotel room after long days of work made her feel isolated, and the loneliness gradually built up. She clarified that it wasn’t an intense emotional breakdown, but rather a phase where she felt low and emotionally drained.

On the professional front, Malavika also spoke about her upcoming Tamil film Pocket Novel, in which she stars alongside Vijay Sethupathi. The project is directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, whom she described as one of the finest filmmakers of this generation. She expressed excitement about the film, praising its strong creative vision and the collaborative energy of the team. The film is slated for release later this year.

In addition, she will appear in Sardar 2, directed by P. S. Mithran and co-starring Karthi. Speaking about wrapping up the shoot, Malavika described the journey as intense yet rewarding—from a demanding initial schedule to a more relaxed and enjoyable final leg in Bangkok.

She also expressed gratitude to her co-star Karthi and director Mithran, calling the experience unique and special, and hinted at her eagerness for audiences to see the film on the big screen.
