Los Angeles — Keanu Reeves has offered some grounded, no-nonsense advice for aspiring actors looking to make it in Hollywood.
The 61-year-old star, who appears alongside Cameron Diaz in the upcoming black comedy Outcome, emphasized the importance of professionalism and mutual respect on set. He encouraged newcomers to stay humble and treat colleagues well, at least until given a reason not to.
Diaz, meanwhile, reflected on the unpredictable nature of fame. She pointed out that there’s no universal guide to handling success, and each individual must find their own way. She also suggested learning from people one admires and seeking advice when needed.
Reeves also revisited an early moment from his career, revealing that he was once advised to change his name after arriving in Los Angeles. His manager believed his real name might limit his opportunities in the industry.
He even experimented with alternatives like “KC Reeves” and humorously considered “Chuck Spadina,” inspired by his middle name and the street he grew up on. However, the change never felt right. He recalled not even responding to the adopted name during auditions, eventually deciding to stick with his real identity.
The anecdote highlights a broader lesson from Reeves’ journey—staying authentic can be just as important as adapting to industry expectations.
