Divya Dutta Says She Would Love to Lend Her Voice to an Animation Film

Mumbai: Actress Divya Dutta has expressed her desire to explore voice acting in animated films, saying she would love to lend her voice to an animation project in the future.

The actress shared her thoughts while attending the Red Lorry Film Festival, where she presented the French animated film Little Amélie, which is currently in the race for the Oscars.

Divya revealed that her appreciation for animated movies grew during a weekly movie ritual with her niece and nephew. Over time, she realised that animation is not just meant for children but can also resonate strongly with adult audiences.

“I started watching animated films with my niece and nephew every Sunday, and gradually I began enjoying them. You realise these films are not only for children but are very relatable for adults as well because of the stories they tell,” she said.

Reflecting on her long-standing association with film festivals, the actress fondly recalled her early experiences of attending screenings.

“There was a time when my friends and I would carry lunch boxes and stand in long queues to watch films at festivals because those films were not easily available otherwise. Film festivals are wonderful platforms where cinema lovers can come together, explore different films and enjoy the experience,” she added.

On the professional front, Divya will soon be seen in the upcoming web series Chiraiyaa, where she plays the lead role.

Speaking about the project, she said the story forced her to confront difficult realities about relationships and social expectations.

“While living with this character, I found myself thinking about how often people silence themselves in the name of preserving relationships or maintaining peace. The story reflects how marriage is sometimes assumed to be a space of unquestioned consent and how sacrifice is often romanticised to the point that pain becomes invisible,” she said.

The series is scheduled to premiere on JioHotstar on March 20.
