Army Day: Yami Gautam Pays Tribute to Soldiers, Says ‘Today and Every Day’

Mumbai  -On the occasion of Army Day on Thursday, Bollywood actress Yami Gautam took to social media to pay tribute to India’s armed forces and honour their service to the nation.

Yami shared a post on X, resharing content from a music label that featured scenes from her 2024 political thriller Article 370. Alongside the post, she wrote, “Happy Army Day. Today & everyday. Jai Hind.”

Army Day is observed annually on January 15 to commemorate the day in 1949 when Lieutenant General K.M. Cariappa assumed office as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, succeeding General Francis Roy Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief. The day serves as a mark of respect for the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of soldiers who laid down their lives to protect the country and its citizens.

Speaking about Article 370, the film is directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale and stars Yami Gautam and Priyamani in key roles, along with Skand Thakur, Ashwini Kaul, Vaibhav Tatwawadi, Arun Govil, and Kiran Karmarkar. The film is based on the 2019 abrogation of Article 370, which revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

Yami was most recently seen in Haq, a courtroom drama directed by Suparn Verma. The film also stars Emraan Hashmi and Sheeba Chaddha in pivotal roles and is inspired by the landmark Supreme Court judgment in Mohd. Ahmed Khan v. Shah Bano Begum, which addressed matrimonial rights within Muslim households. The film reportedly draws elements from journalist Jigna Vora’s book Bano: Bharat ki Beti and faced legal scrutiny ahead of its release due to its depiction of the Shah Bano case.

The actress is married to filmmaker Aditya Dhar, who recently delivered the blockbuster Dhurandhar. The film, inspired by real-life events, is set against the gritty backdrop of the criminal underworld and Indian patriotism, blending high-octane action, espionage, and dramatic betrayals. The ensemble cast includes Akshaye Khanna, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt.

The storyline of Dhurandhar is loosely based on Operation Lyari, a government-led crackdown on criminal gangs and syndicates operating in Karachi’s Lyari area in Pakistan.
