Aahana S Kumra, Purab Kohli to Star in Heartwarming Children’s Film ‘Putul’

Mumbai — Actress Aahana S Kumra, who was recently seen in the reality series Rise and Fall, is set to star opposite Purab Kohli in an upcoming children’s film titled Putul.

In the film, Aahana plays Megha, the working mother of six-year-old Putul, who is struggling through a troubled marriage with her husband (played by Purab Kohli) and seeking a divorce.

Speaking about the project, Aahana shared, “I shot for this project about two years ago in Dehradun and had a wonderful experience. We filmed at the start of the year, and the weather was just perfect.”

The film also features Rajat Kapoor in a key role and explores the emotional complexities of a broken marriage through the innocent eyes of a child, highlighting how such conflicts shape a young mind.

Reminiscing about her time on set, Aahana added, “I spent almost a month there. Dehradun holds a special place in my heart — my sister and I have been visiting since childhood for our annual family trips. It feels like a second home.”

Putul was recently screened at one of India’s major film festivals, where it received an enthusiastic response. “It was shown in Meerut, my mother’s hometown, and we had a housefull screening. I was so happy to see how well the film turned out,” Aahana said.

She added, “Putul deals with turbulent marriages from a child’s point of view, focusing on relationships and their emotional impact. This festival was the perfect stage for the film — it connects indie cinema with audiences who truly value meaningful storytelling.”

On the professional front, Aahana was last seen in Revathi’s Salaam Venky, a slice-of-life drama starring Kajol and Vishal Jethwa, based on the inspiring true story of a mother who helps her son with Duchenne muscular dystrophy live life to the fullest.
