Los Angeles — Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt has been lauded for his innate racing abilities by Joseph Kosinski, director of the hit sports drama F1.
The 61-year-old actor starred alongside Damson Idris in the film, which hit screens earlier this year. Speaking to People magazine, Kosinski said, “Luckily, Brad and Damson actually had a lot of natural talent, so we had a lot to work with. They were really, really good drivers, and you can see that when you watch the film.”
Despite Pitt’s natural skill, Kosinski admitted that filming on the F1 street circuit in Las Vegas was nerve-wracking. “Vegas was really where I was crossing my fingers because it was so cold and the tyres didn’t have much grip. One mistake, and he’d hit the wall. It was by far the most dangerous thing we did. But Brad came through with flying colours, even though his character crashes in the film. On the shoot day, he was great,” he added.
F1 has been a massive success at the box office, grossing over $600 million worldwide. Kosinski has also hinted at the possibility of a sequel. “Based on the reception of the film, I would love to see what adventures Sonny Hayes goes on next, and I think the audience would too. We’re actually going to start talking about that very soon and explore what the next chapter of his story could be,” he said.
Both Pitt and Idris worked closely with Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton, who also served as an executive producer. Pitt previously shared that he enjoyed learning from Hamilton during the production.
