Sonakshi Sinha Reacts to Not Being Part of ‘Son of Sardaar 2’: “It’s Completely Fair”

Mumbai- Actress Sonakshi Sinha, who starred alongside Ajay Devgn in the 2012 hit film Son of Sardaar, has responded to her absence from the upcoming sequel Son of Sardaar 2.

Speaking to IANS, the Akira actress stated that such casting decisions are a normal part of the film industry, and there's no reason to overthink them.

Addressing why she isn’t part of the new installment, Sonakshi explained, “It’s natural for the story to take a different direction. The characters change, the plot evolves, and that’s completely fair.”

Sonakshi added that her years of experience in the industry have helped her understand the business side of filmmaking. “I approach these things professionally. We’ve been working in this industry for so long that we understand how it works. It’s not a big deal, it doesn’t bother me at all,” she emphasized.

The first Son of Sardaar, directed by Ashwni Dhir, featured Sonakshi in a lead role alongside Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, and Juhi Chawla. The film, a remake of the 2010 Telugu hit Maryada Ramanna, was released on November 13, 2012.

Now, almost 12 years later, the sequel Son of Sardaar 2, officially titled The Return of the Sardaar, is set to hit theatres. The new film stars Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora.

On June 19, Ajay Devgn took to Instagram to reveal the film’s poster, where he’s seen donning a turban. He wrote, “The Return of the Sardaar #SOS2 in cinemas near you on 25th July. #SardaarIsBack #SonOfSardaar2.”

Produced by Jio Studios, Devgn Films, and T-Series, the film also features Sanjay Dutt reprising his role as Don. Additionally, Sanjay Mishra joins the cast, replacing Vijay Raaz, who was originally set to play a role previously portrayed by Ravi Kishan in the first film.

Son of Sardaar 2 will clash at the box office with Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor.
