Premium fuels get costlier; petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged

New Delhi: State-run oil major Indian Oil Corporation has raised the prices of its premium fuels in the national capital, while keeping regular petrol and diesel rates unchanged.

The price of XP100 petrol has been increased to Rs 160 per litre from Rs 149 earlier. This high-octane fuel is typically used in luxury cars and high-performance motorcycles for better engine efficiency. Similarly, Xtra Green diesel, a premium variant, now costs Rs 92.99 per litre in Delhi, up from Rs 91.49.

Despite the hike in premium fuels, prices of regular petrol and diesel have remained stable across major cities. In Delhi, petrol continues to be sold at Rs 94.72 per litre and diesel at Rs 87.62 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol is priced at Rs 103.44 per litre, while diesel costs Rs 89.97.

Oil marketing companies have maintained this stability even as global crude oil prices have surged due to rising geopolitical tensions in West Asia. While retail auto fuel prices have been kept steady, other petroleum products have seen sharp increases.

Commercial LPG prices have gone up by Rs 195.50 per cylinder, and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) rates have more than doubled, crossing Rs 2 lakh per kilolitre.

Globally, crude oil markets remain volatile amid tensions in West Asia, including concerns around supply disruptions near the Strait of Hormuz. US President Donald Trump has suggested that military actions involving Iran could ease in the coming weeks, hinting at possible de-escalation. However, Iran has warned of potential retaliation against American interests, keeping uncertainty high.

Despite these global pressures, retail petrol and diesel prices in India have remained steady so far.
