Tata Motors Expands Qatar Presence with Launch of LPO 1622 Bus

Doha – Tata Motors has strengthened its footprint in the Middle East with the launch of its all-new LPO 1622 bus in Qatar. This marks the company’s first Euro VI-compliant bus in the region, tailored specifically for staff transportation.

According to the company, the LPO 1622 delivers high performance, enhanced passenger comfort, and a low total cost of ownership—key features aimed at meeting the growing demand for efficient mass mobility in Qatar.

The bus is powered by a robust Cummins ISBe 5.6L Euro VI-compliant engine, producing 220 horsepower and 925 Nm of torque. It comes in two seating configurations—65-seater and 61-seater—offering operators flexibility to serve a range of transportation needs.

To ensure maximum safety and stability, the LPO 1622 is equipped with a full air dual-circuit braking system with ABS, tubeless radial tyres, and a heavy-duty suspension. It also features advanced technologies such as Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Cruise Control, and a Multimode Switch to optimize performance across diverse road conditions.

Speaking on the launch, Asif Shamim, Head of International Business at Tata Motors, said:
“The Middle East remains a key strategic market for us, and our vehicles have consistently delivered value across segments. With Qatar being an important part of this region, we’re excited to introduce the all-new LPO 1622 bus, designed to offer greater profitability for fleet operators and enhanced comfort for passengers.”

Alongside the bus, Tata Motors also introduced a refreshed lineup of its world-smart, Euro V-compliant Prima heavy trucks to cater to Qatar’s evolving infrastructure and construction needs. The range includes the Prima 4040.K, 4440.S, 4040.T, and 6040.S models—each engineered for performance and durability.

Tata Motors' commercial vehicle portfolio spans over 40 countries and includes a comprehensive range from sub-1-tonne mini trucks to 60-tonne cargo haulers, and passenger transport solutions ranging from 9-seaters to 71-seaters. The vehicles are backed by Tata Motors’ extensive R&D and are rigorously tested for local conditions, the company said.
