New Delhi – Bharti Airtel has teamed up with Google to offer its customers 100GB of free cloud storage through Google One for six months, aiming to help users tackle the growing issue of limited device storage.
The offer is available to all Airtel postpaid and Wi-Fi customers, who can also share the 100GB cloud storage with up to five additional people, the companies said in a joint statement.
Customers will be able to back up their photos, videos, documents, and other files across Google Photos, Drive, Gmail, and more—at no extra cost for the first six months after activation.
After the free trial period ends, the Google One subscription will continue at ?125 per month, added to the customer's regular Airtel bill. Customers who choose not to continue can opt out of the subscription and end their Google One membership.
“We're excited to partner with Airtel to bring Google One to millions of users in India. This will help people back up their important data safely and access it easily,” said Karen Teo, Vice President, Platforms and Devices Partnerships, APAC at Google.
The partnership aims to solve the growing problem of storage shortages on smartphones, allowing users to keep their files without constantly needing to delete data or invest in expensive external storage devices.
An added benefit is that WhatsApp chats on Android, which are backed up to Google Account storage, will also be covered—making it easier for users to switch devices. The service is available on both Android and iOS, making it accessible across platforms.
Siddharth Sharma, Director of Marketing and CEO – Connected Homes at Bharti Airtel, noted, “With smartphones now central to both personal and professional life, storage has become a key concern. We’re happy to partner with Google to offer our customers a secure and easy-to-use cloud solution. This gives millions of Airtel postpaid and Wi-Fi users access to an additional 100GB of space.”
