Balochistan Liberation Front Claims Killing of 10 Pakistani Soldiers in Multiple Attacks

Quetta: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for a series of coordinated attacks across several districts of Balochistan, alleging that ten Pakistani military personnel were killed, according to local media reports on Tuesday.

The attacks were reportedly carried out in the areas of Jhao, Barkhan, Tump, and Turbat, and took place on Monday, less than 24 hours after earlier operations by Baloch armed groups, including the BLF, which allegedly resulted in the deaths of at least 15 Pakistani soldiers.

In a media statement, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said that the group’s fighters ambushed a Pakistani military convoy in the Jhao area of Awaran district on the afternoon of December 28. According to the statement, the ambush targeted an army foot patrol, a bomb disposal squad, and a pickup vehicle that had gathered at the same location.

The BLF claimed that eight personnel were killed on the spot and three others critically injured in the attack. The group further alleged that an armoured vehicle assigned to protect the convoy fled during the ambush, leaving behind the bodies and wounded soldiers. The BLF stated that it would release video footage of the incident.

The group said a second attack was carried out later that night, targeting a military camp in the Srati-Tik area near Rakhni in Barkhan district. According to the statement, BLF fighters used heavy weapons, including rocket-propelled grenades, which struck inside the camp, killing two Pakistani personnel and injuring another.

In another incident earlier on December 28, the BLF claimed responsibility for an attack in the Gomazi area of Tump, where its fighters allegedly fired heavy shells at a security forces’ checkpoint, causing casualties and material damage.

Separately, the group said it carried out a grenade attack on December 27, targeting Pakistani Navy personnel at the main gate of a naval camp in central Turbat. The BLF claimed the attack resulted in casualties and led to increased patrols by Pakistani security forces in the area.

Reiterating its stance, the BLF stated that it would continue armed attacks against Pakistani forces until what it described as the achievement of an “independent Balochistan.”
