Traffic restrictions and route diversions will be enforced in Ranchi on October 9 in view of the India-West Indies international T20 cricket match at the JSCA International Stadium, with the traffic police issuing detailed guidelines for vehicle movement and parking.
The measures have been introduced to ensure smoother traffic flow and prevent congestion around the stadium and other key routes during the match.
According to the traffic police, entry of heavy goods vehicles into the city will remain prohibited from 6 am to 11 pm on October 9. Such vehicles will have to use the Ring Road to reach their destinations.
Movement of regular vehicles will also be restricted on the stretch from Shalimar Chowk to the North Gate of the stadium. However, ambulances and vehicles associated with medical services will be allowed to pass in case of emergencies.
Restrictions will also remain in place from 6 am until the end of the match on the movement of small and large goods vehicles, autos, e-rickshaws and passenger vehicles along several important routes.
These include Sugata Chowk, Big Bazaar Cutting, Rajendra Chowk, MECON Chowk, AG More, PSO More, Ilex Cutting, Hindu Chowk, Birsa Chowk, HEC Gate, Old Assembly, Dhurwa Golchakkar, Shahid Chowk, Devendra Manjhi Chowk, Kadru Bridge, Kadru Cutting and Argora Chowk.
The police have also said that traffic may be diverted or stopped on other routes if required, depending on the traffic situation during the match.
Parking to depend on match-day ticket gates
The traffic police have issued separate parking arrangements based on the entry gate mentioned on spectators' tickets.
Spectators holding tickets for the South Gate and South-East Gate can park their vehicles at Prabhat Tara Maidan after travelling via Dhurwa Golchakkar, Jawahar Stadium and Miya Market. From the parking area, spectators will have to walk to the stadium.
If Prabhat Tara Maidan reaches capacity, parking will be available at DAV School, Jawahar Stadium and St Thomas School premises.
Spectators holding West Gate tickets can park at Sukhuwa Maidan after travelling via Dhurwa Golchakkar, Veer Kunwar Singh Chowk, Dhurwa Bus Stand or Satellite Camp More. If Prabhat Tara Maidan is full, Saraswati Vidya Mandir School will be available as an alternative parking location.
Spectators arriving from the Naya Sarai-Ring Road side can park at the helipad ground opposite the High Court and then walk towards Tirril More and the JSCA North Gate to reach the stadium.
Special arrangements have also been made for vehicles carrying VIP and VVIP pass holders. Such vehicles will be directed via Shalimar Bazaar and Prabhat Tara Maidan towards Paras Hospital before reaching the designated parking area near the North Gate.
With thousands of spectators expected to attend the international match, authorities have urged visitors to follow the designated routes and parking instructions to avoid congestion and ensure smoother movement around the stadium.
