AI and Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence to Come Up in Deoghar

The District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) Managing Committee has approved a series of projects focused on healthcare, education, drinking water and technical training in mining-affected areas of Deoghar district.

The decisions were taken at a meeting of the committee chaired by Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania on Wednesday. The Deputy Commissioner directed officials to ensure that all sanctioned projects are completed within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining construction and service quality.

The meeting began with a review of the progress of projects approved earlier under the DMFT. Bhuvania sought detailed updates on the ground status of ongoing works in mining-affected areas and directed officials to complete pending projects at the earliest. He also reviewed DMFT revenue collection and instructed the concerned officials to achieve 100 per cent collection against the prescribed target.

AI and cybersecurity centre for local youth

In a major step towards creating employment-oriented opportunities for young people, the committee approved the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for AI and Cybersecurity Training.

The proposed centre will provide advanced training in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, with a focus on connecting youth from DMFT-affected areas with modern technical skills and better employment prospects.

Drinking water and sanitation facilities in schools

The committee also approved drinking water facilities in 48 schools located in mining-affected areas. Along with this, new toilets will be constructed and existing toilet facilities will be repaired to strengthen basic sanitation infrastructure for students.

The initiatives are aimed at improving essential facilities in schools and creating a more conducive learning environment for children in affected areas.

Mother and newborn care units approved

To strengthen maternal and child healthcare services in rural areas, the committee approved the establishment of Mother Newborn Care Units (MNCUs) at the community health centres in Sarath, Karon and Palojori, as well as at Deoghar Sadar Hospital.

Deoghar Sadar Hospital serves as a referral facility for DMFT-affected areas, making the proposed MNCUs important for improving access to specialised care for mothers and newborns.

The committee also approved the provision of modern medical equipment at the community health centres in Sarath, Palojori and Karon. Several other public welfare projects aimed at improving overall development in the concerned blocks were also cleared.

Bhuvania directed executive engineers of the departments concerned to regularly inspect and monitor the projects and ensure that the sanctioned works are completed on time.

Superintendent of Police Praveen Pushkar, Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, Civil Surgeon-cum-Chief Medical Officer, District Panchayati Raj Officer, District Planning Officer, executive engineers of various departments, District Engineer, Assistant Public Relations Officer and members of the DMFT team were present at the meeting.
