New Delhi- A massive collection of previously classified files on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs) has been made public by the Pentagon, revealing decades of unexplained aerial sightings reported by astronauts, military officials, intelligence personnel and civilians.
According to US authorities, the newly released documents do not confirm the existence of extraterrestrial life. Officials said many incidents remain officially “unresolved” due to missing evidence, limited data or possible explanations such as drones, balloons, weather disturbances and sensor malfunctions.
The declassified archive, released following a directive from Donald Trump, includes more than 160 files featuring military videos, infrared footage, FBI memos, NASA transcripts and eyewitness testimonies spanning from the 1940s to 2026.
Among the material are infrared military recordings showing fast-moving unidentified objects, radar images of unusual aerial shapes and reports of crafts making sudden direction changes at extremely high speeds.
The documents detail mysterious sightings from different parts of the world, including North America, the Middle East, the East China Sea, Africa and the Mediterranean region near Greece.
One of the reports describes an unidentified object making sharp 90-degree turns near the ocean surface before vanishing from infrared tracking systems. Military footage from Iraq, Syria and the UAE also reportedly captured strange flying objects moving unpredictably through the sky.
The files further include transcripts from the Apollo Moon missions. During a 1969 debriefing, an astronaut reportedly mentioned seeing a “fairly bright light source” near the Moon. Other astronauts described flashes of light and particles drifting through space, while members of the Apollo 17 mission observed bright tumbling lights during their 1972 journey.
Older FBI documents in the archive contain witness accounts of disk-shaped, egg-shaped and cigar-like flying objects hovering silently before rapidly accelerating away. Some testimonies also mention small humanoid figures, described as roughly four feet tall, seen near unidentified crafts. However, officials stressed that these claims remain unverified.
Another notable entry refers to a glowing “eight-pointed star-shaped” object captured in military footage, alongside several aerial incidents investigators were unable to conclusively explain.
The documents have been uploaded to a newly launched public Pentagon portal focused on UAP disclosures, with officials indicating that more files could be released in future phases. US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said the move was intended to improve transparency following years of public demand for greater disclosure.
