Weather set to change, heat wave likely from Saturday

Ranchi: Weather in stateis set to change once again. According to the meteorological department's forecast, the weather in the state will remain clear and dry on Friday. However, starting from 10th May, the intensity of heat is expected to increase, particularly in the districts of Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Pakur, Godda, and Sahibganj, where heat waves are anticipated.

Abhishek Anand, a scientist at the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, mentioned that the current temperature across the state is between 36 to 39 degrees Celsius, and it is likely to rise in the coming days. Over the next five days, temperatures could increase by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius. However, after noon, clouds are expected to form in many areas, including Ranchi and nearby regions, which may provide some relief from the heat. On Thursday, rain in Ranchi, Dhanbad, and Jamtara brought some coolness to the weather.

The department also mentioned that from 11th to 14th May, the heat effect could be seen in other districts of Santhal Pargana as well. A yellow alert has been issued for the state from 10th to 14th May. Over the next five days, maximum temperatures in most parts of Jharkhand could rise by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius. Areas like Giridih, Dhanbad, Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Godda, and Sahibganj are expected to experience intense hot winds, which could cause discomfort.

In the last 24 hours, some parts of the state recorded light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. The highest rainfall in the state was recorded at 64.2 mm in Paatamda, East Singhbhum. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in Godda was 39.3 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature in Gumla was 20.5 degrees Celsius.

The weather department has advised citizens to take precautions to avoid heatstroke, especially by avoiding going out during the afternoon and staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
