Now all children of class eight to 10 will get cycles, Minister approves approval

Ranchi: All categories of children studying in classes 8 to 10 of state government schools will be given cycles by the Welfare Department. For this, permission has been given to start the process for the third time. Till now, after the years 2020-21, and 2021-22, due to the conditions of the tender, now even in 2022- 23, the children have not received cycles. The matter of amendment in the tender had come to the fore so that the children get cycles.

A new tender proposal was prepared for this. This proposal has got the approval of the Welfare Minister Champai Soren. Every year the Welfare Department gives cycles to children coming from SC, ST, OBC, and minority categories. But due to tender conditions, the cycle could not be procured for three academic sessions.

Because of this, the children have not been given cycles. In fact, according to the condition of the tender so far, the annual turnover of the applying company should be 25 lakhs. The department had said that the company fulfilling this condition would be exempted.

While according to this condition, only a company named Kohinoor had applied. When it came to giving the cycle, the Kohinoor company expressed its inability to give the cycle as per the requirement. At the same time, the department did not have the option of another company. According to the information received from the Welfare Department,  the budget for giving cycles every year is fixed at Rs 122 crore.

In this way, Rs 366 crore has been spent for the three-year cycle. This time the department has decided that along with reserved category students, cycles will also be given to general category students. At present, the price of a cycle has been fixed at Rs 4500.

Earlier, the price of a cycle was kept at Rs 3500. In such a situation, it is hoped that if everything goes well, this year all the students of classes VIII to X will be able to get cycles together. This scheme was started by the government from the eighth grade.

After passing middle school, children go to high school. In panchayats, the distance of the high school is more. Children come from far away. To facilitate their movement, cycle distribution scheme was started. This scheme was also made to stop the dropout of children.
