Jharkhand HC allows government to use seized oxygen cylinders

Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Saturday ordered that the seized oxygen cylinders which have been kept in the storehouses of the different police stations should be released so that it can be used for the treatment of Covid patients.

Despite Saturday being off on the request of Advocate General Rajeev Ranjan, the High Court held an online hearing of the matter. The court of Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice S N Prasad accepted the plea of the government and directed the district judges of the concerned area to allow the release of cylinders.

The court said that the DCs can use the released cylinders in an emergency so that the lives of the people can be saved. The court was informed that across different police stations 250 cylinders have been seized and kept in storerooms.

The court also appreciated the act of the government and commented that it appears that the state government is making preparations for future situations. On the other hand, the court is regularly hearing the PILs which have been filed over the facilities to tackle Coronavirus in the state.
