Monsoon Session: Remaining two days likely to disruptive for land mutation bill, hunger deaths and SPOs agitation

Ranchi: After a gap of two days the Assembly would reconvene on Monday during the ongoing Monsoon Session however things appear to be noisy and disruptive as the opposition led by the BJP would look to corner the state government over a host of issues.

Primarily among them being the land mutation bill 2020, hunger deaths, declining law and order situation and agitation of special police officers who are demanding permanent service.

On the inaugural day of the Monsoon Session, the state government did not table the land mutation bill as it faced opposition from the MLAs of the Congress and the JMM. The BJP had already made its intention clear that it would oppose the bill from roads to the assembly as it was aimed at protecting the officials involved or those would indulge in land loot.

Faced with opposition from inside and outside Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday had said that after considering all the pros and cons any bill would be brought in the house. People in both JMM and Congress are of the view that the bill was not as suited for the interests of the people and moreover with the bypolls of Dumka and Bermo around the corner might also hurt the chances of the parties to keep the seats in their kitty.

A senior JMM legislator who did not wish to be named said that the bill will be introduced in the house in the future session after making certain amendments.

Another issue over which business is likely to be rattled in the house is over the post of leader of the opposition for Babulal Marandi who is the leader of the legislature wing of the BJP. Despite repeated requests by the party the Speaker has failed to fulfill the demands of the BJP.

As per the official schedule on Monday discussion is also scheduled over the first supplementary budget for the fiscal ending March 31, 2021 worth Rs 2584 crore which was tabled on Friday. Post the discussion the bill will be passed in the assembly.
