Pranavi Urs scripted history at the Asian Games by becoming the first Indian woman to win gold in the individual golf stroke play event, delivering a remarkable performance at the Kasugai Country Club East Course.

The Indian golfer held her nerve on the final day, carding an even-par 70 to finish with a total of 15-under 265 over four rounds. Her victory marked a significant milestone for Indian golf at the continental sporting event.

Pranavi also played a key role in India's historic silver medal in the women's team competition. The Indian trio finished with a combined score of 14-under 546, securing the country's first-ever medal in the women's team golf event at the Asian Games.

The final round, however, was far from straightforward for Pranavi. Starting the day with a three-stroke advantage over Singapore's Shannon Tan, she suffered a major setback on the third hole, where a triple bogey pushed her down to second place.

Showing composure under pressure, Pranavi mounted an impressive comeback with birdies on the sixth, 10th and 13th holes. The crucial shots helped her regain the lead, which she successfully defended through the final stretch to seal the gold.

China's Yin Ruoning and Singapore's Shannon Tan shared the silver medal, both finishing at 14-under par.

India's other competitors had mixed fortunes in the individual event. Aditi Ashok finished 14th with a total of two-over 282 after carding a three-under 67 in the final round. Diksha Dagar ended joint 23rd at 12-over par after a difficult final day in which she shot seven-over.

Aditi had also entered the final round in a strong position after leading the field following the third day. However, she could not maintain her advantage and slipped down the standings, missing out on an individual medal.

For Pranavi, the double-medal achievement and historic individual gold represent a major breakthrough. The result also highlights India's growing presence in women's golf at the international level, while the team's silver offers further encouragement for the country's emerging golfers.
