Eindhoven – The India A men’s hockey team began their European tour on a high note, registering a commanding 6–1 win against Ireland at Hockey Club Oranje-Rood.
India delivered a strong all-round performance across all four quarters, maintaining control throughout the match. Uttam Singh opened the scoring for the team, followed by Amandeep Lakra who doubled the lead. Aditya Lalage then struck twice in quick succession, securing a brace with back-to-back goals.
Forwards Selvam Karthi and Boby Singh Dhami also added their names to the scoresheet with a goal each, as India dominated both attack and defense. Ireland managed to score just a consolation goal, with India maintaining solid defensive discipline.
India A will face Ireland once again on July 9, hoping to maintain their momentum. The team will then go on to play against France, England, Belgium, and host nation the Netherlands over the next two weeks.
This European tour is designed to evaluate player depth and readiness as part of Hockey India’s broader goal of strengthening the senior national team. It offers emerging talents vital international exposure and an opportunity to prove themselves on a global stage.
Speaking ahead of the tour, team captain Sanjay said, “This tour will be a great testing ground for us to understand our strengths and weaknesses. We have a good mix of experienced and young players, and these matches will offer tough competition to assess where we stand. Such international exposure will be crucial in building a strong bench for the future of Indian hockey.”
