
Vung Tau (Vietnam) – Indian women wrestlers delivered a stellar performance at the ongoing U-23 Senior Asian Wrestling Championship in Vung Tau, Vietnam, bringing home a total of 10 medals and securing the Champion Trophy.
Demonstrating exceptional talent and determination, the Indian women's team won medals in all 10 weight categories, including four gold, five silver, and one bronze—a clean sweep that marked India’s dominance in the tournament.
The gold medal winners were:
Priyanshi Prajapat (50 kg)
Reena (55 kg)
Shrishti (68 kg)
Priya (76 kg)
The silver medals were clinched by:
Neha Sharma (57 kg)
Tanvi (59 kg)
Pragati (62 kg)
Siksha (65 kg)
Jyoti Berwal (72 kg)
In the 53 kg category, Hinaben Khalifa secured a bronze medal, completing the team’s full set of medals.
In Greco-Roman wrestling, Sumit brought further glory by winning gold in the 63 kg category. Nitesh and Ankit Gulia added to India’s medal tally with bronze medals in the 97 kg and 72 kg categories, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Men’s Freestyle events are underway, and India has already struck gold through Vicky in the 97 kg Freestyle category.
With several bouts still to be contested on Saturday, India is poised to add more medals to its impressive haul.
