APGC Junior Championship: Ranveer & Krish Finish Fifth in Boys’ Team; Saanvi & Kashika Eighth in Girls’ Event

Hong Kong – Indian amateurs Ranveer Mitroo and Krish Chawla secured a fifth-place finish in the boys’ team event at the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Junior Championship, held at the Hong Kong Golf Club. The duo posted a combined total of four-over 430. The Chinese team of Jin Heng Yan and Jin Han clinched the title with a score of four-under 422.

Challenging weather conditions, including rain, made scoring difficult. Despite this, Ranveer continued his strong form, carding a steady two-over 73 in the third and final round. He finished sixth in the individual standings with a total of two-under 211 — the best performance among the four-member Indian team sent by the Indian Golf Union (IGU). Krish finished 22nd overall with a score of six-over 219 across three rounds.

New Zealand’s Cooper Moore won the boys' individual title with a three-round total of nine-under 204, finishing two shots ahead of Vietnam’s Tuan Anh Nguyen.

Ranveer, 16, described the tournament as an "invaluable learning experience," saying it helped him better understand his strengths and areas for improvement.
"Competing in a field like the APGC Juniors has given me a significant confidence boost. Being surrounded by talented players and experiencing such a competitive environment has motivated me to push my limits. I now believe more firmly in my abilities," he said.

He also credited the Indian Golf Union for its support.
"The IGU has played a key role in my development as a golfer by providing access to essential competitive opportunities," Ranveer added.

In the girls’ individual competition, Saanvi Somu shot a two-over 74 in the final round to finish a commendable 10th. Her teammate, Kashika, who was recovering from illness, showed improvement with a three-over 75, securing 19th place.

Together, Saanvi and Kashika placed eighth in the girls’ team event with a combined score of 16-over 448. In the mixed team category, the Indian duo of Krish and Saanvi concluded their campaign in 13th position with a total score of 11-over 437.
