realme 16 5G set for April 2 launch with dual 50MP cameras, rear selfie mirror

New Delhi — Smartphone photography in the mid-range segment is getting a major upgrade as realme prepares to launch the realme 16 5G in India on April 2. The upcoming device aims to blend premium design, intelligent imaging, and practical everyday usability for a wider audience.

Continuing the legacy of the realme Number Series and building on innovations introduced in the Pro lineup, the realme 16 5G focuses heavily on portrait photography. The company positions it as a strong camera contender in its segment, combining advanced hardware with AI-driven enhancements.

At the heart of the device is a dual 50MP camera setup, featuring a 50MP front camera and a Sony IMX852-powered 50MP rear sensor with f/1.8 aperture and autofocus. This configuration is designed to deliver consistent, high-quality results for selfies, group shots, and everyday photography.

One of the standout features is a segment-first rear selfie mirror, allowing users to take sharper rear-camera selfies. It is complemented by a “Say Hi” gesture-based capture feature and an integrated ring flash for hands-free shooting and balanced lighting.

The phone also introduces LumaColor IMAGE technology, which uses AI colour algorithms, RAW HDR processing, and facial enhancement tools to produce natural skin tones, balanced highlights, and improved depth in portraits. Vibe Master Mode further enhances creativity with presets such as Lively, Festival, and Ceremony for quick style adjustments.

AI-powered editing tools add to the experience. AI Edit Genie enables users to tweak hairstyles, outfits, and backgrounds using simple commands, while AI Instant Clip turns photos and videos into ready-to-share short-form content.

Beyond photography, the realme 16 5G features an ultra-slim Air-inspired design and packs a large 7000mAh battery, aiming to combine sleek looks with long-lasting performance.

With these features, the device positions itself as a design-focused, camera-centric smartphone, reflecting how premium-inspired capabilities are increasingly moving into the mid-range segment.
