MapmyIndia Thanks Ashwini Vaishnaw for Praising Swadeshi Navigation App ‘Mappls’

New Delhi — Digital mapping pioneer MapmyIndia on Sunday expressed its gratitude to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw after he used the indigenous navigation app ‘Mappls’ and lauded its advanced features during a recent drive.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the company wrote, “We’re truly honoured that you used the @mappls app, which comes pre-installed in vehicles powered by MapmyIndia Maps, and appreciated features like Junction View — built to make driving in India safer, smoother, and smarter.”

MapmyIndia also expressed interest in collaborating with the Ministry of Railways to integrate its mapping and navigation technologies into railway applications, supporting India’s goal of a seamless, intelligent, and self-reliant digital infrastructure.

The company noted that the Mappls app — which has surpassed 35 million downloads — reflects the trust and pride that Indians have in homegrown innovation.

Earlier, Vaishnaw had personally tested the app during a car journey and urged citizens to explore this Swadeshi alternative to foreign navigation tools.

Sharing his experience on X, the minister praised the app’s standout 3D Junction View, which visually represents overbridges, underpasses, and flyovers to enhance driving clarity and safety. He also highlighted another useful feature that helps users find specific shops or destinations inside multi-storey buildings.

“As soon as we reach a place, even if there are multiple floors, the app guides us to the exact shop or location,” Vaishnaw said, commending Mappls as a testament to India’s growing capability in developing world-class digital and navigation technologies.

Developed entirely in India, Mappls offers a suite of features designed specifically for Indian road conditions — including real-time alerts for speed limits, accident blackspots, sharp turns, and traffic signals, along with highly detailed 3D visuals.

By creating cutting-edge digital mapping solutions domestically, MapmyIndia continues to advance the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ missions — strengthening technological self-reliance and innovation within the country.

The company, which has been mapping India for more than three decades, said it remains committed to building world-class digital maps covering every corner of the nation, from highways to remote rural roads.

“When leaders, innovators, and citizens choose Swadeshi, India moves closer to true technological independence,” MapmyIndia added.
