Commercial Use of Domestic LPG Cylinders Banned During Shravani Mela


Deoghar : To ensure a safe and uninterrupted LPG supply during the State Shravani Mela 2026, the district administration on Thursday held a high-level review meeting with officials of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). The meeting focused on strengthening the gas supply system and preventing the commercial use of domestic LPG cylinders in the fair area.Chairing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed that domestic LPG cylinders meant for household use will not be permitted for commercial purposes under any circumstances during the fair. All hotels, dhabas, restaurants, sweet shops, tea stalls and other commercial establishments in the mela area will be required to use only 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders.
The meeting also clarified that 5-kg LPG cylinders are meant primarily for small families, migrant workers and travellers. Pilgrims may use these cylinders only for personal purposes, such as cooking their own food, and not for any commercial activity.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed IOCL officials to ensure an adequate and uninterrupted supply of 19-kg commercial cylinders throughout the mela period so that business establishments do not face any shortage. Officials were also directed to maintain a safe, smooth and reliable LPG supply chain across the entire fair area.The meeting was attended by the Deputy Development Commissioner, Municipal Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Officer of Deoghar, District Planning Officer, District Supply Officer, Assistant Public Relations Officer, IOCL's Jharkhand LPG Head, LPG Sales Officer and other officials of the corporation.
