Ashwini Vaishnaw Flags Off Seven New Trains from Bihar, Including Three Amrit Bharat Express

Patna – Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday inaugurated seven new train services from Bihar, including three Amrit Bharat Express trains designed to provide affordable long-distance travel for middle- and lower-income passengers.

Vaishnaw flagged off the services virtually from New Delhi, while Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated them at Patna Junction. The new Amrit Bharat Express routes include Darbhanga–Madar (Ajmer), Muzaffarpur–Charlapalli (Hyderabad), and Chhapra–Anand Vihar (Delhi).

Additionally, four passenger trains were launched on shorter Bihar routes: Jhajha–Danapur, Patna–Buxar, Nawada–Patna, and Patna–Islampur.

Highlighting the launch, Vaishnaw said the trains would offer hassle-free, affordable transport for Bihari migrants and daily commuters. “On the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and in partnership with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, we are connecting various cities while keeping fares low for the middle and lower-income groups,” he noted.

He praised Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for his past contributions to the railway sector, adding that Indian Railways has achieved new milestones under PM Modi’s leadership.

Deputy CM Choudhary expressed gratitude to the Centre for focusing on Bihar’s infrastructure growth and highlighted upcoming projects including a Bhagalpur ring road, a four-lane road from Sultanganj to Deoghar, and a new railway line linking the two pilgrimage sites. He also emphasized that central assistance for Bihar’s railways has increased from around Rs 1,000 crore annually under the UPA to over Rs 1 lakh crore in the last 11 years.

The Amrit Bharat Express, positioned as a cost-effective alternative to premium Vande Bharat trains, underscores the government’s efforts to modernize railway services while ensuring affordability.
