BJP President Amit Shah on Saturday said the party and the government were concerned about the rising prices of petrol and diesel and assured that the government would soon present its position on the issue.
Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, Shah said the recent increase in fuel prices and the weakening of the Indian rupee against the US dollar were largely linked to developments in the international market.
“We are trying to find ways. The government will soon come out before the people with a stand,” he said.
Shah attributed the rise in fuel prices to global factors, including the trade tensions between the United States and China and strained relations between the US and oil-producing countries.
He said these international developments were having an impact on fuel prices and currency markets, creating challenges for economies around the world.
On the depreciation of the rupee against the US dollar, the BJP leader sought to put the movement in perspective, claiming that the Indian currency had not weakened as sharply as several other currencies amid the global economic uncertainties.
His remarks came as rising fuel costs and currency movements remained key concerns for consumers and policymakers, with the government facing pressure to address their potential impact on household budgets and the broader economy.
