The Defence Ministry has announced that the next edition of the biennial Aero India air show will be held in Bengaluru from February 20 to 24, 2019.

According to a statement issued by the ministry in New Delhi, the five-day event will take place at the Indian Air Force's Yelahanka airbase on the northern outskirts of Bengaluru. The venue is expected to be placed under tight security during the high-profile international event.

Aero India 2019 will bring together leading aerospace and defence companies from India and abroad, with the event featuring both static and flying displays of military and civilian aircraft. Fighter jets, helicopters and various air weapons are expected to be among the major attractions.

The exhibition will also provide a platform for global aerospace and defence companies, investors, industry leaders and policy experts to showcase new technologies and discuss developments in the sector.

The Defence Ministry said the event would facilitate the exchange of ideas, information and technological developments while creating opportunities for collaboration between Indian and international companies.

The air show is also expected to support India's domestic aviation and defence manufacturing sectors and strengthen the government's Make in India initiative.

The Defence Production Department said it was committed to making Aero India 2019 a result-oriented event, with greater emphasis on showcasing India's growing capabilities in aerospace and defence manufacturing.

With international participation and large-scale aircraft demonstrations, the event is expected to once again put Bengaluru at the centre of India's aerospace and defence industry and provide Indian manufacturers an opportunity to engage with potential global partners and investors.
