Massive fire in Delhi plastic factory

A massive fire broke out at a plastic manufacturing factory in west Delhi's Nangloi area early Saturday, destroying a large quantity of material and equipment. No casualties were reported in the incident.

The fire was reported at around 3.55 a.m. from the three-storey building where the factory was operating, according to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS).

Two workers who were sleeping inside the premises at the time of the incident managed to escape safely.

The DFS rushed 25 fire tenders to the spot after receiving information about the blaze. Firefighters battled the flames for several hours and had brought the fire under control by around 9 a.m., although cooling and other operations were still underway.

"Fortunately, there is no loss of lives in the massive fire which gutted the entire factory where plastic materials were manufactured," a DFS official said.

The official added that the exact cause of the fire had not yet been determined.

The presence of large quantities of plastic and other combustible material made the blaze particularly intense and complicated firefighting operations. Fire officials had to work for several hours to prevent the flames from spreading further.

Police have initiated an investigation to determine how the fire started and to assess the circumstances surrounding the incident.
