India has become rape capital of world, PM silent over atrocities committed on women: Rahul Gandhi

Barkagaon: Star campaigner for the Congress party Rahul Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being silent over the attrocities being committed on the women and said that India has turned into a rape capital of the world.

Addressing an election rally at Barkagaon High School grounds here while campaigning for party candidate Amba Sahu and others on the seats which are going into the polls in the third phase he said that Mr Modi did not say a word when an MLA in Uttar Pradesh raped a girl and later an accident of the victims was done. He said that women are scared coming out of their homes.

He said that the women are being burnt and shot but the Prime Minister is not saying a word despite claiming to provide security to the women. Attacking the Prime Minister he whenever Mr Modi comes to Jharkhand he claims about protecting the farmers and asked the people to tell the number of farmers who have been murdered for resisting forcible land acquisition.

“The farmers are being killed, their land is being forcibly taken away and the Prime Minister says from the stage that he is providing security to the farmers,” he said and alleged that Raghubar Das was among the most corrupt Chief Ministers in the country.

He said wherever Congress has been in power whether Punjab Karnataka Chhattisgarh Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh loan wavier has been provided to the farmers. He said that it was the Congress party which gave the land acquisition bill which was opposed by Modi with full force. Mr Gandhi pointed the example of Chhattisgarh where the land acquired by the Tatas was returned back to the land owners as the company failed to set up Industries for a period of five years.

He said that in the neighbouring state while the MSP on paddy was Rs 2500 in Jharkhand the farmers are getting Rs 1300. He said that in the last 5-6 years Mr Modi gave loan wavier worth Rs three lakh 50,000 crore for the 10-15 corporates but did not wavied off the loans of the farmers and small shopkeepers. Further attacking the Prime Minister he said that without asking anyone the Gabbar Singh Tax (GST) was implemented in the country and its benefits were enjoyed by Adani and Ambani.

He said that the face of the Prime Minister which is shown everyday on the televisions due to the money paid by the big industrialists who get the land free of cost from Mr Modi. He asked the people as to whether they had seen the Prime Minister hugging any farmer or touching the hands of workers but he is always found hugging his corporate friends.

Mr Gandhi said that apart from taking away the pension of the retired government staff a conspiracy has been also hatched to hand over the government PSUs to these 10-15 industrialists.

Mr Gandhi promised that on the likes of Chhattisgarh MSP of Rs 2500 will be provided on per quintal of paddy, loan wavier for farmers upto Rs 2 lakh will be given, all the land which has been acquired forcibly will be returned back, the land acquisition bill will be properly implemented in the state, OBCs will get 27 percent reservation and all those who had fired bullets on the farmers action will be taken against them.
