
Ranchi: At the end of the stipulated time frame for the withdrawal of nominations for the first phase of elections on 13 seats of the state a total of 189 candidates are now in the race to reach the Vidhan Sabha with polling all scheduled to be held on November 30.
At end of the scrutiny process, a total of 206 candidates were left and a total of 17 candidates withdrew their nominations including 1 in Gumla, 2 in Lohardaga, 2 in Manika, 1 in Panki, 4 in Vishrampur, 4 in Hussainabad, 2 in Garhwa and 1 in Bhawnathpur. Among the 13 seats where polls will be held in the first phase, the maximum number of 28 candidates are on the Bhawnathpur seat while a minimum 9 candidates will fight it out on the Chatra seat.
At the end of the withdrawal process the total number of candidates on Chatra seat was (9), Gumla (12), Bishunpur (12) Lohardaga (11) Manika (10) Latehar (11) Panki (15) Daltonganj(15) Bishrampur (19) Chattarpur (12) Hussainabad (19) Garhwa (16) and Bhawnathpur (28).
The polling on these 13 seats which included Chatra (SC) Gumla (ST) Bishunpur (ST) Lohardaga (ST) Manika (ST) Latehar (SC) Panki Daltonganj Bishrampur Chattarpur (SC) Hussainabad Garhwa and Bhawnathpur will be held on November 30. The counting of votes will take place on December 23.
The total number of eligible voters who are eligible to vote in this phase is 37,78,963 which included 19,79,991 male voters 17,98,966 female voters and 6 third gender voters.
Prominent candidates who are in the race for these 13 seats included BJP nominee Janardhan Paswan from Chatra, Chamra Linda of JMM from Bishunpur, Sukhdeo Bhagat of BJP and Dr Rameshwar Oraon of Congress from Lohardaga, Prakash Ram of BJP and Baidynath Ram of JMM from Latehar, Ramchandra Chandrvanshi of BJP from Bishrampur, Radha Krishna Kishore of AJSU from Chattarpur and Bhanu Pratap Sahi of BJP from Bhwanathpur.
