Two arrested for loot in Dumka, Rs 1 lakh seized

Dumka: Police has arrested couple of criminals who were wanted in a loot case while raids were on to nab three of their other associates.

Addressing a press conference here Dumka SP YS Ramesh said that from the arrested Rs 1 lakh on cash has been seized along with a motorcycle.

The duo hail from Birbhum district of West Bengal the SP said adding the arrested have been forwarded to jail.

Mr Ramesh said that on October 23 an FIR was registered by the victim Pradeep Nemani in which he had claimed that four miscreants had looted from him a sum of Rs 8.90 lakh on the Dumka-Pakur main road at Jiyapani.

Post the registration of the complaint police swung into action and arrested one Ramjan Sheikh (22) who confessed that he along with his other associates had executed the loot after which they had distributed Rs 75,000 each among themselves.

The other arrested has been identified as Mohammed Aashik (24), he said. The SP said that apart from the two, three others are also involved in this case and raids are being conducted to nab them.
