JMM alleges Model code violation in programme organised during Chhath in Jamshedpur

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has claimed violation of model code of conduct following a cultural program organised in Jamshedpur on the occasion of the Chhath festival.

Addressing a Press Conference here party spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said that in the program organised in the name of the Chhath festival the state government had crossed all the limits as during the event Raghubar Chalisa was recited which is completely violation of the model code of conduct.

He said that after the election commission declared the dates for polls in Jharkhand the model code of conduct immediately came into effect in the state but it appears that it is not being properly implemented. He said that despite the tall claims of the state government over its works in reality the Identity and existence of Jharkhand has been put into danger.

He said that the central government was planning to bring a new forest act due to which those who live in the forest in the state are scared and suspicious. Mr Bhattacharya said that while on one hand 1400 schools were closed on the other hand liquor shops are being opened near temples and colleges. He claimed that since the Chief Minister has already seen his defeat therefore he was making baseless statements.

He said that in the elections of Haryana and Maharashtra the BJP had left aside local issues and had contested elections on Jammu and Kashmir and abolition of article 370 and the result is before everyone and the same will be repeated in Jharkhand as the BJP was scared with the alliance of the opposition.

The JMM leader said that while on one hand the Chief Minister is claiming that now maoists were breathing their last in the state but its report was itself rejected by the central government as the election commission said that 67 seats out of 81 vidhansabha seats of Jharkhand are severely naxal infested due to which the commission was conducting the elections in five phases.

To a query, he said that it has always considered Babulal Marandi a mature and senior leader of the state and pointed that in the interest of the state every party was sacrificing something and therefore he too should rise above the organisational issues of the party and come forward.

He said that Hemant Soren had tried on two-three occasions get in touch with him but was not successful after which the Congress party was given the responsibility and hoped that soon some solution would be found out and the entire opposition would strongly contest the elections.
