
Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that Ranchi will become the national Centre for the study of astronomy as his government has accorded focus on progress in Science and Technology.
Addressing the people after inaugurating the newly constructed planetarium built at the Science Centre in Chiraundi and the building of Jharkhand Technical University here he said that with the changing times it is important to move forward and if new techniques are not adopted with changing times then things will not be able to move forward.
He said that without the development of science the country or the state cannot progress and even in the sector such as education industry business or even government machinery Science and Technology have any important role to play.
He said that the planetarium will be a milestone in the area of astronomy and will also give new energy to the students and researchers and will inspire them to move forward in the area of astronomical studies.
He said that to create awareness towards science and increase the interest of the students in this field the toppers of Engineering and diploma are given incentives by the state government. Apart from that for researchers and for organising workshop seminar and lectures grants are also provided.
He said that the newly constructed Varaha Mihir Planetarium is the state’s first planetarium based on model technology and it has been named after great philosopher mathematician and astrologist Varahmihir who was born in the 6th century during the Gupta dynasty in Ujjain.
Mr Das said that in the Science Centre itself with an investment of Rs 1.80 crore new innovation building will be constructed. He said that people are living in the era of knowledge Science and Technology and it is the demand of the present time that infrastructure should be strengthened therefore the state government has decided to construct the innovation lab and is also committed to complete its construction within stipulated time frame.
The Chief Minister said that the building of the Technical University has been also inaugurated which will be highly beneficial for the students studying in engineering and now they will not have to go outside as they will get their degrees from here.
Mr Das said that the scientists of the country have always made the nation proud and said that development in the areas of science and technology will further take the country forward. He appealed to the students having an interest in science to study with dedication and move forward in life. He also extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Durga Puja.
