CM announces three month breather against provisions of new motor vehicle act

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das has urged the people of the state to follow the traffic rules and refrain from rash driving and ensure the safety of each other's life on the roads.

The Chief Minister said a review was done of the problems being faced by the people post the implementation of the new motor vehicles act in the state. Post the review the Chief Minister asked all the enforcement agencies of the transport department and traffic police to make the people understand the new rules and urge them to follow the provisions of the new act.

He has also directed the transport department to provide all necessary facilities to the people and also open Additional service centres and help the vehicle owners get their documents updated.

He said that the process should continue for the next three months so that people can get ample time to get their documents updated. Mr Das said that during these three months maximum awareness campaign should be organised so that people can become aware of the new laws and get time to update their documents and this will also help them to pay less fine under the new provisions.

Those present in the meeting included Urban Development Minister CP Singh Chief Secretary DK Tiwari Additional Chief Secretary Home Sukhdeo Singh DGP Kamal Nayan Choubey Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sunil Barnwal and Transport Secretary Praveen Toppo.
