Wait of nearly two decades end as Jharkhand gets its own Vidhan Sabha

Ranchi: It was a wait of almost two decades which ended on Thursday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly constructed building of the Jharkhand Vidhansabha which has been constructed at Kute of Dhurwa in the state capital.

Chief Minister Raghubar Das had laid the foundation for building the biggest Panchayat Bhawan of the state on June 12 2015 and in a short span just over four years and a couple of months the building was prepared.

The newly constructed Vidhan sabha has many new features added to it as it is equipped with all the modern amenities and in the main building the power would be supplied through solar energy.

Apart from that, it is also the first paperless Vidhan Sabha of the country which also has a water treatment plant. Another key feature of the building is its main dome whose roof has been decorated through the tribal art form of Sohrai painting showcasing the core of the tribal existence based on ‘Jal Jungle Aur Zameen.’

The new Vidhan sabha building has been constructed at a cost of Rs 465 crore and this is spread in an area of 39 acres. Further, the building has been divided into two parts and its dome which is 37 meter high was the highest dome in the country.

In the new assembly, seating arrangements has been made for 162 amys and also consists of 22 rooms for the cabinet ministers 17 room for the different Vidhan sabha committees room for the chief whip and rooms for the officials and staff of the Vidhan Sabha.

The building also has separate galleries for the officials' visitors and members of the press to witness the Assembly proceedings.
