Daltonganj: Three minor girls were drowned in a local dam under Chattarpur Police Station area of the Palamu district.
The deceased have been identified as Chando Kumari (10), Sunaina Kumari (9) and Akriti Kumari (10). Police said that as part of the Karma Festival a group of women and girls had gone to take bath in the dam.
Though all of them returned back these three girls continued to swim in the water when suddenly Sunaina started drowning and two save their friend the other two girls also drowned.
Another girl who saw the incident ran to the village and called for help. The men rushed to the dam and took out the girls from where they were taken to Chattarpur sub-divisional hospital from where they were referred to Sadar Hospital Medninagar where the doctors declared the girls dead on arrival.
