Dhanbad: A local court in this district acquitted former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi in a violation of model code of conduct case.
The court of sub-divisional judicial magistrate Shikha Aggarwal acquitted Mr Marandi and 10 others in the case including former minister Saba Ahmed.
The court had completed hearing in the case on August 22 and had later fixed September 5 as the date for the announcement of the verdict.
A case of violation of model code of conduct was registered against Mr Marandi and others at Baghmara Police Station bearing case number 94/14 during the campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls of 2014.
Mr Marandi was accused of addressing a public rally much later than the time slot allotted to him by the district administration.
