BJP ST Morcha gives memorandum to DC

Ranchi: The ST Morcha of the BJP has handed over a memorandum to Ranchi DC in which it has been asked to protect the constitutional rights of the tribal community.

The party through its memorandum said that in Jharkhand Chottanagpur Tenancy Act and Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act are prevalent to protect the lands of the tribal however despite that non-tribals, powerful persons and land brokers especially Christian missionaries through unlawful means are acquiring their land and pointed that transfer of any kind of tribal Land by the Christian missionaries is a violation of section 46 and 49 of the CNT Act.

The party said that the father or brother of the Missionaries mislead the innocent tribals and make them undergo religious conversions and after that, they take their land in the name of the church which is later sold on higher prices. The party also pointed that under the fifth schedule of the constitution 118 blocks have been classified as schedule areas.

State vice president and Rajyasabha MP of the party Sameer Oraon said that those who have done away with their religious tradition and rituals cannot be considered as tribals and said that it is a matter of irony that such people are contesting elections of the Mukhiya and also that of the Lok Sabha.
